Fail to Load Domain From Directory When Using reconfig.sh Due To Corrupted Nodemanager Password (Doc ID 2310035.1)

Symptoms

Getting a "fail to load domain from directory" error when using the $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common/common/bin/reconfig.sh script:

 

From log perspective when running with the option -log=LOGFILE the complete stack trace is seen:

Even when the "fail to load domain from directory" message is pretty generic, this stack trace suggests this issue is related to nodemanager password.
