Windows Native Authentication/Kerberos not working when WebCenter Portal is Front-Ended with OHS or a Load Balancer

Symptoms
ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
After configuring single sign-on (SSO) for Microsoft clients (WNA/Kerberos) with WebCenter Portal Domain, the users are not authenticated.
Issue happens even after applying the patch recommended in this note:
Windows Native Authentication / Kerberos doesn't work with WebCenter portal - Users are still required to provide user credentials (Doc ID 2235052.1)
The following behavior is observed:
- WNA / Kerberos authentication works when using the Managed Server host.

WNA / Kerberos authentication doesn't work when using the OHS or LBR URL.

User might get the following message:
Sorry, you do not have access.
If you have an account, please login first. -
Users are logged in after providing user credentials which is unexpected.
