Goal
How to Disable the UI Automation Feature by Default in the ESSO-LM MSI ( The Generate Customized MSI Utility)..?
Background:
To avoid one of the issue it was instructed to upgrade the ESSO-LM 11.1.2.3 workstation client to Bundle Patch 1 (11.1.2.3.1) and remove the UI Automation feature from the installation, however despite disabling the feature in the Generate Customized MSI utility, it does not disable the feature by default when installing the MSI. This makes it difficult to remove the feature from a network installation.
To capture screen shots Administrative Console was installed in a new Test environment, run the Generate Customized MSI utility, disabled the UI Automation and saved the customized MSI.
Then started to install the MSI and the feature is still enabled.
In addition, the following command was run:
msiexec /i ESSO-LM-Alt.x64.msi REMOVE=UIA
which instructs msiexec to remove the UI Automation feature, however when we navigate to the Advanced Setup, everything is disabled.
Also this was given a try with ORCA (from the Windows SDK) by removing the UIA feature (by setting the Level from 101 to 1) which results disabling all features.
The only way to install without the UI Automation feature is to install the ESSO-LM msi, go to add or remove programs, change the Oracle Enterprise Single Sign-On client installation and remove the feature, however that is not practical for network size of large scale.
