Last updated on DECEMBER 11, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 11.1.1.7.0 to 12.2.1.4.0 [Release 11g to 12c]
Oracle WebCenter Content: Imaging - Version 11.1.1.9.0 to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release 11g]
Oracle WebCenter Content for OCI - Version 12.2.1.4.0_24.9.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

As of 11-2020, the latest release of WebCenter Content is 12.2.1.4.0.

This Note will provide example steps to upgrade a WebCenter Content server 11g to version 12.2.1.4.0.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of WCC 12c, then use Note 2309958.1

Note: This will cover only the WCC Content Server, Inbound Refinery, and URM domains.  Not domains that also have other managed servers in them such as IPM, WebCenter Portal, or Capture.

However, in a multi-application domain, these upgrade steps are essentially the same. In addition to installing the WCC media, the media for the other applications are also required to be installed as part of step F.

Refer to the online documentation below for more information about upgrading URM.

How long will this take?

The amount of time this takes is subjective to the environment such as:

1. Upgrading older 11g to 11.1.1.9

2. If this a cluster domain, then more time is needed for each additional node.

3. How much content is in the UCM repository.  For example, the readiness check will take longer for larger repositories.

4. Number of files in the domain folder.  For example, if the vault and weblayout are inside the domain folder, then this can add considerable amount of time.  Please see below KM note for details.
