How To Use a Stored Procedure To Update The DB And Maintain The TopLink Cache (Doc ID 233435.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 19, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle TopLink - Version 9.0.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

TopLink supports generating SQL for all database operations and
provides an expression framework that supports defining simple and
complex queries at the object level. Occasionally, your application
may require a very complex update queries using custom SQL, or the use
of a stored procedure on the database. If this is the case, TopLink
also allows database operations to be customized through SQL or stored
procedure calls.

When you use custom SQL or a stored procedure to insert, delete or
update a record in the database, TopLink is not aware of these changes
and therefore cannot maintain correct data in the TopLink cache
(IdentityMaps).
