A Custom Portal Application is Filling the Logs With MDS-00013 Errors due to Invalid Portlet References : The metadata for portlet binding TestPortlet was not found in MDS

Symptoms

A custom WebCenter Portal Application is filling the logs with the following errors:

oracle.adf.model.portlet.binding.PortletBindingException: The metadata for portlet binding Portlet1 was not found in MDS.

Caused By: oracle.portlet.client.persistence.PersistenceNotFoundException: mdsId=/oracle/adf/portlet/TestPortlets/ap/Portlet1_3f837e3b_014d_1000_8002_a150b2431965.pxml not found

No errors are seen in the Custom WebCenter Portal Application UI.
