How to Extract the Date Part of a Larger Extracted String in WebCenter Forms Recognition (Doc ID 2338086.1)

Goal

Within WebCenter Forms Recognition (WFR) Designer, the Invoice Date field using the standard extraction methods extracts a Date plus unwanted characters.

For example:

The word on the invoice is: "ABC.2017.12.07"

The corresponding match is: "ABC.2017.12.07"

The extraction needed is: "2017.12.07"

If there was a space between "ABC." and "2017.12.07" in the invoice, this issue would not exist because OCR identified two words, "ABC." and "2017.12.07".  Since there is no space, "ABC.2017.12.07" is seen as a single word.

Using this scenario, how can only the date be extracted?
