Connection from ODI Studio Data Server to Microsoft SQL Server Fails with "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Could not load JDBC driver class" (Doc ID 2341199.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to test the connection to the Microsoft SQL Server Technology in the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) topology tab the following error is received:

oracle.odi.runtime.agent.invocation.InvocationException: oracle.odi.core.exception.OdiRuntimeException:
java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Could not load JDBC driver class [com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver]

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open ODI Studio and navigate to the Topology tab
2. Expand the Physical Technology for Microsoft SQL Server
3. Double click to open the Data Server
4. Click "Test connection" and observe the above error stack
