How to Hide the Drop Down Arrow on the Pending Approval Pages' Search Icon? (Doc ID 2341689.1)

Goal

The Pending Approvals page has a drop-down arrow on the Search icon which does not provide any additional Search functionality.  This document provides the steps needed to hide this drop-down arrow if needed.

As Background:

The Pending Approvals page can be thought of as a view. It shows a limited subset of all of the available tasks for a given user. There are a few types of views that are available in OIM, including Pending Approvals, Provisioning Tasks, Certification Tasks, etc. And each of the "View-Based" tiles on the Home page will just show the type of tasks that are relative to that view.

In contrast with these "View-Based" tiles, the Inbox shows all of the tasks for a user regardless of whether these are provisioning type tasks, approval type tasks or certification related tasks. We can use the OOTB views on the left navigation column in the Inbox to limit what is shown - for example, selecting Pending Approvals will show just the approval tasks that are shown in the Pending Approvals tab - or the user is able to create a new view using their own criteria. For example, you could create a view that shows just the User Profile Update type of requests, or requests that are for a particular beneficiary regardless of what type of request they are.

So the Inbox search box has the "regular" search functionality as well as the Advanced search functionality which allows for the creation of views. The additional search functionality of the Inbox is why the search field in the Inbox has a drop-down icon.  Since the Pending Approvals (or any of the other "View-Based" tiles) does not have this functionality to create views, there is no need to have a drop-down arrow.
