Unable To Create Asset With Attribute Value Single(Unique) Using REST API (Doc ID 2342553.1)

Symptoms

Using REST API to create an asset with type Single(Unique) String attribute, fails with:

a. http 500 error response from Server
b. XML response is

When changed the attribute from Single(Unique) to Single then rest api works, and the asset is getting created, so the issue is with Attribute "Number of Values" - Single(Unique).
