Cannot Open Complex XQuery File In Xquery Mapper View In JDeveloper (Doc ID 2356438.1)

Symptoms

A new XQuery file is created with a large schema as the output parameter. When OK is clicked, JDeveloper hangs and doesn't open the XQuery Mapper view. This requires a restart of JDeveloper to resolve. Why can't JDeveloper open this large XQuery file?
