WebCenter Enterprise Capture Commit Is Throwing Error "oracle.odc.exception.CommitException: input == null!" (Doc ID 2360704.1)

Symptoms

The Enterprise Capture Client is throwing an intermittent error "oracle.odc.exception.CommitException: input == null!" after a user clicks the Release button on a batch.

The below error occurs in the log:

This occurs more frequently when capturing a 30+ page document, clicking on "Release", then clicking the "Refresh" button.
