Duplicating or Replacing Schema in OID (Preparing for Backup / Schema Migration / Replication Configuration) (Doc ID 236667.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 29, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 10.1.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

This document provides additional steps to dump the Oracle Internet Directory (OID) schema when custom objectclasses and attributes have been added.

Intended for same version OID to OID migration.  Do not use this full article for cross version migration.

For 10g to higher version migration, it is best to use section titled "TO MIGRATE CUSTOM OBJECTCLASSES AND ATTRIBUTES" from the following Note, and select Only Custom objectclasses and attributes from the source OID 10g to be added to the destination OID:

Considerations For Migrating Entries From One OID To Another (Doc ID 436998.1)

Scope

When setting up OID replication, the OID schema in all nodes in the Directory Replication Group (DRG) must be the same.  If the schema modifications were made with Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) / Oracle Directory Manager (ODM / oidadmin) and/or there is no LDIF file representing these customizations, then this procedure can be used to create a schema dump.  That file can then be used to update the other nodes in preparation for setting up an OID replicated environment.

The schemasync tool should be used.

The schemasync command-line tool enables you to synchronize schema elements, namely attributes and object classes between an Oracle Internet Directory server and a third-party LDAP directory or another Oracle Internet Directory server.
