Symptoms

The following error:

ODI-1227: Task Insert new rows-IKM SQL to File Append- fails on the source connection Source_SCOTT__DS.
Caused By: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00904: "MY_TABLE"."MY_COL": invalid identifier

  at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CTTIoer.processError(T4CTTIoer.java:466)
  at ...

... is received when attempting to run an Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c Mapping that implements a custom SQL statement in the Extract Properties CUSTOM_TEMPLATE option, such as:

select MY_COL1, MY_COL2
from MY_TABLE
where MY_COL1 = 1234
