The following error:

ODI-1227: Task Insert new rows-IKM SQL to File Append-<NAME> fails on the source connection <DATASERVER>.
Caused By: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00904: "<TABLE>"."<COLUMN>": invalid identifier

... is received when attempting to run an Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c Mapping that implements a custom SQL statement in the Extract Properties CUSTOM_TEMPLATE option, such as:

select <COLUMN1>, <COLUMN2>
from <TABLE>
where <COLUMN1> = <VALUE>
