JDeveloper IDE severe performance issues when Toplink extension is involved

After the JPA persistence.xml file is clicked or opened in the editor, the IDE starts grabbing CPU and memory and also the hosting system becomes unstable and unusable until the JDeveloper process is killed.

The JDeveloper IDE should be stable and not take over all the system resources, no matter the performed operation.
