OHS 12c (12.1.3) Using SSL Crashes With the Error "exit signal Segmentation fault (11)" and Generates Core Dump

Symptoms
When using Oracle HTTP Server 12.1.3, OHS crashes and generates core dumps with the below notification in the logs:
[OHS] [NOTIFICATION:16] [OHS-9999] [core.c] [host_id: <FQHN>]
[host_addr: <IP>] [pid: <PID>] [tid: <TID>] [user: <UID>] [VirtualHost: main] child pid <pid> exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
The issue has only been seen in AIX and Solaris Sparc platforms. It may be in others (but see the solution first).
Use <Note:1812.1>, "Getting a Stack Trace from a CORE file on Unix" to confirm a stack trace like the following:
