In ODI 12c Designer the Import of Global Knowledge Modules Cannot Be Disabled for a User (Doc ID 2443787.1)

Symptoms

Although the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.1.3.0.1 User Profile does not have the required authorization to import Knowledge Modules, the user still is able to import them through ODI Studio.

Steps for reproducing the behavior:

  1. Open ODI Studio and go to the Security tab (Security under the Window menu option).  
  2. Duplicate the DESIGNER profile.
  3. Right click on the duplicate profile
    • Select "Authorization"
    • Select Objects > Procedure
    • Select Method > Import Knowledge Modules > Remove the assigned Method (Uncheck)   
  4. Assign the above profile, and the Connect profile to a user.
  5. Login to ODI Studio with the user credentials.
  6. Go to the Global Objects under the Designer tab and locate the Global Knowledge Modules. Right-click and select Import Knowledge Module...
    Note the option to import is available, and if done, the import succeeds.
