OID 11G Unable To Failover oidrepld To Specific OID Component/instance (Doc ID 2460851.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 30, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 11.1.1.9.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

OID 11g Replication

Cluster to Cluster OID replication configured

Dedicated instances created specific for oidrepld

Failover does work, but oidrepld does not always start on the dedicated OID instance.

Setup:
Cluster 1
============
Node 1 -- with OID1 on port 1389 (which is used by DIP)
-- and OID3 on port 1390 (created for oidrepld and this is the
instance that oidrepld is started on)

Node 2 -- with OID2 on port 1389 (which is used by DIP)
-- with OID4 on port 1390

Cluster 2
===========
Node 1 -- with OID1 on port 1389
-- and OID3 on port 1390

Node 2 -- with OID2 on port 1389
-- with OID4 on port 1390

Replication is configured to replicate from Cluster 1 to Cluster 2
Replication working as it should

This Bug is specific to the failover process
For example
Only one instance of oidrepld is started within each Cluster

On cluster 1
oidrepld is start and connects to OID3 -- on port 1390
To Test failover, customer stops the OID3 instance

The problem is -- Sometimes it will failover to Node2 on OID2
and sometimes it will failover to Node2 on OID4

OID4 has been setup as a dedicated instance for oidrepld..
