Controller REST Service Not Working for Remote Satellite Server (Doc ID 2483702.1)

Symptoms

An implemented REST service using a Controller is working fine when invoked over Co-Resident Satellite Server (Co-Res) but it doesn't work when using Remote Satellite Server (RSS). The request redirects to a CAS page.
