Document Separation on Barcode in WebCenter Enterprise Capture Fails (Doc ID 2493763.1)

Symptoms

An Enterprise Capture project will not allow for blank pages as a separator between two documents.  Barcodes are being used as the separator between two documents within a batch. If the barcode is not successfully recognized through Capture from a page, the document fails and the documents are merged together.  How can this be corrected?
