Last updated on FEBRUARY 08, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 2.0.6.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On exalogic virtual environment with high load, sometimes the VNIC of guest VM goes down and never recover automatically during IB switch master SM failover. The master SM failover could happen when:

- The master SM is stalled and the standby SM takes over automatically.

- The IB switch on which the master SM is running, is restarted due to maintenace activity, like patching.

In the /var/log/messages of the guest VM, we can see the messages indicating the VNIC goes down following by some udevd failure message on some VNICs. After those udevd failure messages, the related VNICs never comes up again by themselves.
