Thousands of messages accumulated in Wire Message tab with status PROCESSING leading to very slow processing (Doc ID 2511759.1)

Symptoms

Oracle SOA Suite 11g versions and 12c versions.

Thousands of messages ended up in status PROCESSING from one partner in Wire Message tab and are processing very slowly causing delay with other inbound flows from other partners as well.

The situation is similar to what is discussed here:

But in this case, thousands of messages are seen only in the WIRE MESSAGE tab of b2b console and other tables like following in mentioned blog above do not have that many rows.

Messages do get consumed from B2B_EVENT_QUEUE eventually but is very slow causing performance issues.

Restart of entire b2b domain also doesn't help.
