Vanity URLS are not Working: Returning 404 errors:

WHAT IS NOT WORKING:
- When requesting a vanity url from OHS e.g. https://{ssl_hostname:ssl_port}/sites/Sites?lookuphost=/&lookuppage=home it returns a 404
- Requesting the same vanity url from the Sites managed server: e.g. http://{hostname:port}/sites/Sites?lookuphost=/&lookuppage=home also returns a 404.

SETUP:
- A new WebRoot (XYZRelative) was created and Root URL was set to /
- A vanity url "home" was created using this new WebRoot. vanity url is created.
- However, every time this url is requested, a 404 is returned.
