Viewing an xls Document Containing Formulas in the Imaging Viewer Causes Error "Document x.IPM_xxxxxxx failed image conversion and cannot be stored in the cache at this time." (Doc ID 2529142.1)

Symptoms

When viewing XLS files containing formulas within WebCenter Content: Imaging, the below error occurs and sometimes leads to stuck threads in Imaging. Imaging tries to convert the document to the image format but fails to do so.  Below is the excerpt from the server logs which are causing the stuck threads:

Document X.IPM_xxxxxxx failed image conversion and cannot be stored in the cache at this time. Please review the server log for details on the cause of the error.
