Hundreds of Irrelevant Methods Require Manual Handling in ODI 12c when Assigning Model Instances via Non-generic Profiles (Doc ID 2544483.1)

Last updated on JUNE 12, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator - Version 12.2.1.3.0 and later
Oracle Data Integrator on Marketplace - Version 12.2.1.4.200123 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Having a non-supervisor user granted with following profiles:

CONNECT
NG DESIGNER
NG METADATA ADMIN
OPERATOR

When assigning an instance of object to that user (for example, a Model) in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.2.1.3.0, the list of methods to manually handle (Active versus Non-Active) contains each and every Object and Method from the Profiles assigned.

To achieve the same in ODI 11g, only the list of relevant Objects and Methods is to manually handle.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. In ODI 11g Studio > Security UI, create a non-supervisor user, and assign him the Profiles: CONNECT, NG DESIGNER, NG METADATA ADMIN and OPERATOR.

  2. In ODI 11g, drag & drop on that user one of the existing Models, and observe the Security window that shows the Object Methods to assign (check or leave unchecked the "Active" box).
There are ~30 such Methods to handle.

  3. In ODI 12c Studio > Security UI, create a non-supervisor user, and assign him the Profiles: CONNECT, NG DESIGNER, NG METADATA ADMIN and OPERATOR.

  4. In ODI 12c, drag & drop on that user one of the existing Models, and observe the Security window that shows the Object Methods to assign (check or leave unchecked the "Active" box).
There are hundreds of such Methods to handle.
