What is the Upgrade Impact for Sub-portals from 11g to 12c (Doc ID 2555958.1)

Looking at this Oracle Document Link under Hierarchical Portals:

Understanding the Impact of Upgrade on Deprecated Features

It says "When you upgrade WebCenter Portal to release 12c, subportals are moved as top-level portals".

When you create Portals in 12c and try to create sub-portals, it goes as sub pages under Top level portal as sub-portal functionality does not exist in 12c.

Would these sub-portals that are in 11g be carried over to 12c Environment?
 
If you do an in place upgrade from 11.1.1.9 to 12.2.1.3 , would the relative path URL of Sub Portals change from 11g to 12c?
