Oracle iPlanet Web Server Configured with SiteMinder Plugin Goes to Hung State and Process Changes to Defunct (Doc ID 2558336.1)

Symptoms

The iPlanet Web Server goes into a hung state suddenly when processing the request and the worker/child process changed to "DEFUNCT". To recover, need to restart the Web Servers and after restart web Server works normally and the same issue happens later some times.

Following message gets logged in errors log file:
