Charmap not working in Postgresql- OGG-02132 Invalid character mapping definition (Doc ID 2561427.1)

Symptoms

When using CHARMAP to map 0x00 to \x20(space), the postgresql replicat abends with error

2019-05-01 11:31:01 ERROR OGG-02132 Invalid character mapping definition

\x00 \x20 in the character mapping file ./dirprm/charmapdesc.txt.

The following was the contents of the charmapdesc.txt

SOURCECHARSET ISO-8859-1

TARGETCHARSET UTF-8

\x00 \x20

The table have a column Cus_code which is char(3) and has three 0x00 value which cause the issue

(0x34aec9)][Oracle][ODBC PostgreSQL Wire Protocol driver][PostgreSQL]ERROR:

invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0x00(File wchar.c; Line 2017;

Routine report_invalid_encoding; ).

As REPLACEBADCHAR won't work tried to use charmap and the above error happened.
