Cannot Delete Element in Eclipse Containing a Slash in Name

Symptoms
When attempting to delete any CSElement in Eclipse using the Developer Tools plugin, the following error occurs if the element name contains a slash:
com.fatwire.csdt.exceptions.UnexpectedException: org.eclipse.core.internal.resources.ResourceException: Resource '<path/filename>.main.xml' does not exist.
