Running the upgradeWebCenterPortal WLST Command Fails with Error: There is no default Content Server connection configured for the Portal Server instance (Doc ID 2574398.1)

Symptoms

When running the upgradeWebCenterPortal WLST Command, it fails with the following error:


ERROR

Connection error:
There is no default Content Server connection configured for the Portal Server instance



STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

    1. Run the upgradeWebCenterPortal command.
      This will fail with the error.

    2. Review the UpgradeDiagnostic.log.
      It will show this error:

      There is no default Content Server connection configured for the Portal Server instance.

      [TRACE]: Entering class: DocLibHandler , method: upgradeConnection

      [TRACE]: Failed to upgrade WebCenter Portal RIDC connection. Please run the command again to upgrade the connection.
      [TRACE]: Failed to upgrade WebCenter Portal application.

      [TRACE]: Exiting class: Lifecycle, method: upgradeWebCenterPortal
       
       
    3. Connect to the 12c Fusion Middleware Control and check the WebCenter Portal Connections.
      Note the Content Server Connection is missing and the option to create the connection is not available.
