Purge scripts running very slowly due to queries against the BPM_AUDIT_QUERY table (Doc ID 2579516.1)

Symptoms

The purge scripts may take 3-4 hours to delete a single instance when there are millions of rows in the BPM_AUDIT_QUERY table.  After gathering an AWR report on the database the longest running queries noticed use the FLOW_ID column in the where clause:

DELETE FROM BPM_AUDIT_QUERY WHERE FLOW_ID = :B1
