Business Component From A Database View Generates All Columns As Primary Key (Doc ID 2593495.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 20, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle JDeveloper - Version 12.2.1.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

If a database view is used to generate as an Entity Object, it generates all columns as primary key
In 11g, JDeveloper does not behave the same way.

To reproduce the behavior follow these steps:

  1. Use the option to Create Business Components from Tables to create a new entity
  2. From the Data Dictionary, select a Database View that is based on a table
  3. After the Entity Object is generated, open its definition and select the Attributes tab.
  4. Notice that all the columns have the key icon next to its name, meaning it is considered as part of the PK

The same steps were followed in an earlier version (11.1.2.4,0) and the issue was not reproduced: the generated entity based on a database view did not include all columns as part of the PK. Only the field that is PK was shown as PK.
