Searches Fail on Metadata or Text that have < and or > in the String. (Doc ID 2617023.1)

Symptoms

Webcenter Content 11g and 12c.

The WCC is configured for OracleTextSearch.

Text within an item or a metadata field value contains a < and or > in it.

As an example, this is a metadata field value that contains a user's email address:

Joe User <JUSER@SAMPLE.COM>

Searching for Joe, User, and Joe User will return the item.

Searching for JUSER or JUSER@SAMPLE.COM will not return the item.

Searching for Joe User <JUSER@SAMPLE.COM> or <JUSER@SAMPLE.COM> will generate the following exception:
