SSL BPM Workspace is not available via Load Balancer (Doc ID 2624274.1)

Symptoms

After configuring a Load Balancer, when attempting to log into BPM Workspace, the process fails and the Username/Password fields are blanked out again (with no errors reported).
The following exception is seen in the log files:
