Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When manually adding new Columns to a Fixed-Format File Datastore, and the Datastore is used as target in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c Mappings, the position of those Columns in the Mapping is set to 0, and sometimes, all Column positions are set to 0.

Note the behavior is specific to fixed-format File Datastores, and does not reproduce on delimited-format File Datastores, or Datastores created from tables or views.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create and edit a File Datastore, of fixed format.
  2. Add new Columns.
  3. Save the changes.
  4. Create and edit a Mapping that uses the above Datastore as target
  5. Observe the position of the new Column in the Mapping is zero (0) .
