Why Does the CAS Log Show Frequent Requests on Publish Destination Server?

Goal
After setting up publish source and target server, while looking at the publish destination configuration on the source instance, the following messages can be seen generated on the destination's cas.log every 20 seconds:
[jasig] [NOTIFICATION] [] [org.jasig.cas.authentication.PolicyBasedAuthenticationManager] [tid: 100] CSAuthenticationHandler successfully authenticated fwadmin+password
[jasig] [NOTIFICATION] [] [org.jasig.cas.authentication.PolicyBasedAuthenticationManager] [tid: 100] Authenticated fwadmin with credentials [fwadmin+password].
[jasig] [NOTIFICATION] [] [org.jasig.cas.CentralAuthenticationServiceImpl] [tid: 97] Granted service ticket [<ticket>] for service [http://xxxx/sites/CatalogManager] for user [fwadmin]
