Unable to Search, Check-in or Rebuild search index due to ORA-29855 & ORA-29861: Domain Index Is Marked LOADING/FAILED/UNUSABLE errors in WebCenter Content (WCC) (Doc ID 2658277.1)

Symptoms

Following errors are experienced in WebCenter Content (WCC) when:

1. On attempting to check-in content:

Content Server Request Failed
Error Unable to execute service CHECKIN_NEW_SUB and function Imeta.
The error was caused by an internally generated issue. The error has been logged.



2. Search fails with:

Content Server Request Failed
Unable to retrieve search results. Encountered an exception while executing a query.

3. Also, each time each time the Collection rebuild cycle is initiated from Repository Manger, it fails with following errors:

ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine

ORA-20000: Oracle Text error:
DRG-10700: preference does not exist : CTSSYS.DEFAULT_WORDLIST

ORA-06512: at "CTXSYS.DRUE", line 186
ORA-06512: at "CTXSYS.CTX_DOC", line 320

On trying to Check-in, following error is seen in logs:

 

BUSINESS IMPACT

Due to this issue, user(s) are unable to execute search and/or check-in content as well as admins are unable to rebuild search collection successfully.

Changes

 The instance was newly created and configuration was migrated from another instance. Also, SearchIndexerEngineName was switched from DATABASE.METADATA to ORACLETEXTSEARCH.
