Reset OPSS Expired Password (Doc ID 2681307.1)

Goal

 While the OPSS framework throws "ORA-28001: The Password Has Expired", also due to security reason, to disable the password expiration policy in database is not accepted, that requires to update the OPSS user password.

Although many document have been published for how to change the OPSS password, however, one important step has not yet been addressed, to change the password, in general that require three steps:

 

 

For the last step to modify the data source, login to console to modify the password for the data source is feasible because the server already fails to start with OPSS password expire error, hence it needs to update the data source meta file (jdbc-xxx.xml) manually with new password. Unfortunately, manually update the data source xml file with clear text password can not be accepted by the server startup, as the system only allows the encrypted password string in the data source xml file.

This document is about to provide a solution to work around the encrypted password issue in data source xml file, and a thorough steps for changing the OPSS password.
