ODI no Longer Shows Objects as Versioned after Changing the Configuration, and "Add to VCS" Results in "ODI-12305" "Mapping Already Exists" Errors (Doc ID 2682519.1)

Symptoms

After having been unable to connect Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) to Git Version Control System (VCS) for some time due to network issues, the connection issue gets resolved and ODI is able to reach Git again.
However, any objects that were previously versioned are no longer showing the green "g" symbol.  The lack of the green "g" symbol indicates that the objects are not versioned.
Similarly, when attempting to add to VCS, an error occurs and the object cannot be versioned:



For example:

  1. Configure ODI with Git
  2. Right-click on mapping, select "Version -> Add to VCS..."
  3. Notice the error
