WebLogic Server Connectivity Issue Over NAT Firewall (Doc ID 2705394.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 02, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.3.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A WebLogic Server cluster has two managed servers hosting a JMS queue. Both the JMS servers are hosted on separate VMs. A JMS client is trying to post a message to the JMS Queue over a VPN. The JMS client is configured to send messages to an IP address where a port-based translation is performed so that the IP address is translated to the internal IP address and port.

The whole set up works flawlessly for a period of time. The client is able to post messages and the servers are able to receive them. Afterwards we see the following exception in the JMS client application logs.:

The exception suggests that the client is trying to make connection over 8003 port and failing since this port is not open for connections, but port 8003 is not present in any of the client configurations.
