Symptoms

When transferring data that contains multibyte characters (like Ö, é, â, ț, ă, î, etc.) from a database table into a fixed file setup with UTF8 encoding, the following error occurs:

 The issue is specific to Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.2.1.4.x.
