JDeveloper 12.2.1.x: ADF Pagedef Editor Hangs If Databases Tab Was Open At JDev Startup (Doc ID 2719285.1)

Symptoms


JDeveloper 12cR2 IDE (version 12.2.1.4) hangs/freezes when trying to edit source XML of an ADF Pagedef in the "Source" pane of the ADF pagedef editor.
The problem happens only if the "Databases" tab (Window->Database->Databases) was open at JDev's startup, and does not happen if the "Databases" tab was not open at startup or if it is opened later.
The problem happens only with pagedefs that contain ADF ViewObject iterator bindings and does not happen with pagedefs that do not contain ADF VO iterator bindings.
JDeveloper 11g works fine and the problem happens in JDeveloper 12c only
