OID 12c Installation Error: INST-07414: Specified java home is not valid (Doc ID 2719383.1)

Symptoms

Attempting to install OID 12.2.1.4 on a new server in preparation for a high availability environment. During the installation, the user is prompted to enter the path to the JDK installed on the server. The installation fails to complete because the JDK path points to the location for OpenJDK and is not recognized by the installer as a valid JAVA_HOME.

ERROR

INST-07414: Specified java home is not valid


STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Start the installation of OID 12.2.1.4.
  2. Enter the path for the JDK Home on the JDK Selection page of the installer.
  3. Click Next. Error appears and installation fails.
