Sites Not Starting After Setup of Unicast

Symptoms
After configuring Sites cache for Unicast, the Sites servers take several minutes to start, and after startup the Sites login screen does not load.
The WebLogic logs show the following error:

org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'cacheManager' defined in file [/<sites_domain>/wcsites/wcsites/config/cas-spring-configuration/ehcache-ticket-registry.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is net.sf.ehcache.CacheException: Error configuring from input stream. Initial cause was Content is not allowed in trailing section.

Modified the cache xml's to use Unicast rather than the default Multicast configuration.
