Unable to Access WebLogic Console Behind a Reverse Proxy After Applying PSU (Doc ID 2747569.1)

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 12.2.1.3.0 and later

Symptoms

The console login works only with WLS 12.2.1.3.0 (or WLS 12.2.1.4.0) without any PSU (no patch).
but it does not work for any of the 12.2.1.3.0 nor 12.2.1.4.0 PSUs.

As a reverse proxy, NGINX is used in this case and listens on port http:80 (but this can occur with other Reverse Proxy vendors or setups).

The latest PSU patch has been applied successfully, yet when trying to logging into the console:


http://<hostname>/nnwls/dev/console/login/LoginForm.jsp


It gives the error message:
