The Direct URL of Pages in a Portal Changed After Upgrading from 11g to 12c (Doc ID 2756198.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 26, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 11.1.1.9.0 to 12.2.1.4.0
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

After upgrading from WebCenter Portal 11g to 12c, it is observed that the direct URL of pages in a portal changed.

For example, for the home page in a portal instead of accessing the page like this:

http://<HOST>:<PORT>/webcenter/portal/<PORTAL_NAME>/home

The URL for the same page after upgrade now is like this despite the page name being "home":

http://<HOST>:<PORT>/webcenter/portal/<PORTAL_NAME>/page1

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Expect the page direct URL to be the same after upgrade.

STEPS

The issue can be verified as follows:

  1. Connect to WebCenter Portal on the 11g instance.

    • Go to Administration > Portal.

    • Click the Administer link next to a portal.

    • Select the Pages section.

    • Select a Page.

    • Select the Summary Tab of the page.
The Page direct URL has this format:

      Direct URL: /portal/<PORTAL_NAME>/<PAGE_NAME>

For this example, the direct URL for the home page of the portal looks like this:

      Direct URL: /portal/<PORTAL_NAME>/home

  2. Connect to WebCenter Portal on the 12c instance.

    • Go to Administration -> Portals.

    • Click the Administer link next to the upgraded portal.

    • Select the Pages section.
    • Select the same Page from step 1 and get the Page Information.

    • Select the Summary Tab of the page.
There you will see the Page direct URL has this:

      Direct URL: /portal/<PORTAL_NAME>/pages_<OTHER_PAGE_NAME>

For this example, the direct URL for the home page of the portal looks like this:

          Direct URL: /portal/<PORTAL_NAME>/pages_page1

      Instead of being like this:

          Direct URL: /portal/<PORTAL_NAME>/pages_home
