Elasticsearch createSearchConnection WLST Command Fails with "The user credentials specified are invalid" (Doc ID 2773019.1)

Symptoms

Running the createSearchConnection WLST command to configure a connection between WebCenter Portal and Elasticsearch:

createSearchConnection(appName, name, url, indexAliasName, appUser, appPassword)

This fails with the error:

"The user credentials specified are invalid."
