Symptoms

When testing an Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) data server connection to a Kafka server, the following error is reported.

The following properties were specified on the data server Properties page:

General:

metadata.broker.list=<HOSTNAME1>:<PORT1>,<HOSTNAME2>:<PORT2>,<HOSTNAME3>:<PORT3>
oracle.odi.prefer.dataserver.packages=scala, kafka, oracle.odi.kafka.client.api.impl, org.apache.log4j
security.protocol = SASL_PLAINTEXT
zookeeper.connect=[blank]

User Defined:

sasl.mechanism = PLAIN
sasl.jaas.config = org.apache.kafka.common.security.plain.PlainLoginModule required username="<USERNAME>" password="<PASSWORD>;"
