Oracle Access Manager (OAM) Unable To Edit Or Delete Empty Application Domain (Doc ID 2779301.1)

When attempting to delete/edit a manually created empty application domain in the OAM console, the following error is reported in the browser:

An unresolvable error has occurred. Please contact your administrator for more information.

On delete, a message similar to the following may be encountered in the $DOMAIN_HOME/servers/AdminServer/AdminServer-diagnostic.log:
