Unable To View and Extract four-byte Unicode characters (including Emoji's) in OIT (Doc ID 2790610.1)

Symptoms

 

Four-byte Unicode characters including Emojis (within docx, pdf and other file formats) does not get rendered in Outside In Viewer. They are replaced with * character or rendered as boxes.

Similarly, Content Access & OIT Export modules(PDF Export, Image Export, HTML Export) do not extract/render four-byte Unicode characters/Emojis properly . 

Check below screenshot - "A word document has few Emoji's in it and is displayed in OIT Viewer".
